Narration, in its oral and written form, constitutes one of
the earliest and most frequent experiences in an individual’s life. Stories represent for children one of the privileged tools for linguistic development and knowledge of the world. The skills that oral or written narration requires to be embodied in a single subject that lends itself to action, qualifies narrative knowledge as a possible tool for education, in the proper sense of a bildung. The paper also attempts to investigate this subject through specific reference to two narrative forms such as the fairy tale and
the picture book, which more than others are linked to childhood and its path of growth and care.
