This contribution intends to promote an epistemological
reflection on the communication-narrative linguistic nexus in medicine by identifying in narrative medicine a mental posture necessary both for clinical practice and for the pedagogical and humanistic training of the current medical competence. The activation of a narrative-experiential laboratory is proposed in which to promote, through structured activities on the Kolb cycle, the metaphor of the journey as an intersubjective plot of doctor-patient narration. Finally, we suggest watching some scenes from the 2011 film Detachment to frame the delicate aspects of family taking charge of the patient and the silent use of the reflective diary.
