The pedagogy of cinema as a care device

The changes brought about by new technologies involve educational processes, so pedagogy is called upon to meet the challenges of digital, multimedia, and instant interactivity. Through which tools is it possible to respond educationally to these challenges? How can educational responsibility find a place in Media Literacy? Is a pedagogy of cinema possible? These are the fundamental questions to which this contribution attempts to respond by analyzing the dimension of educational responsibility in the context of digital information literacy – through an idea of pedagogy of cinema – and using educational care conceived as digital care. The aim of digital care is to enable the development of a conscious and responsible interaction between the processes of the human mind and the use of digital technologies. The pedagogy of cinema – through the category of digital care – becomes, therefore, a fruitful tool for education in the arts capable of deconstructing the habit of learning according to rigid patterns, opening the mind to encounters with otherness and differences that agitate today’s complex and multi-problematic society.
