Abstract

Narrative-based medicine proposes an approach centred on the physician-patient relationship and assigns a central role to the narrative dimension in clinical practice, enhancing the process of co-construction of illness stories. From a pedagogical point of view, the development of narrative medicine has drawn attention to the question of the educational
of health professionals and, specifically, to the need for courses aimed at the development of narrative-reflexive and communicative-relational skills. In line with this perspective, the contribution investigates some of the dominant narrative models in the field of competitive sport, with the aim of highlighting how the regulatory logics of a specific context can influence the patients’ stories of illness. The focus will be on the role that sports au-tobiographies can play within the educational paths of health professionals.
