The paper analyses the use of virtual reality (VR) in the medical field, with a focus on healthcare training on empathy. Starting with an initial mapping of VR applications, three software programs were selected. The results show that such software possess characteristics that make them useful in health care training, including in relation to doctor-patient empathy.
