Pain and suffering, universally present in human life, appear as a difficult experience to deal with. It is also necessary to make pain-conscious healthcare workers, often unable to face their own suffering to derive benefits and greater self-understanding from it. Narrative medicine, supported by pedagogical science and andragogy, guarantees therapeutic value to words that become cures and allow the formation of reflective
professionals. This allows for a better structuring of the center of identity and favors relationships in the clinical setting and beyond.
