The contribution explores the concept of Health Literacy
(HL), from its origins to the present day highlighting, in particular,
the transition from individual skills to ownership of groups, communities, populations and organizations. Finally, the article deals with the teaching of HL at school as a dimension of knowledge and competence that contributes to reducing inequalities in health, with relevant ethical and social implications. But also as a useful tool for providing health information, solving health problems and promoting health and well-being.
